Wagering requirements and the UK's 10x cap
A wagering requirement is the number of times you must bet a bonus before its winnings become cash. Since 19 January 2026 the most a UK casino bonus can ask is 10x. Here is how the maths works and which terms still matter.

Wagering in one example
Say you deposit £20 and receive a £20 bonus with 10x wagering on the bonus. You need to place £200 of bets (10 × £20) before any remaining bonus balance becomes withdrawable. The bets can win or lose along the way, so the balance at the end may be higher or lower than £20, or nothing at all.
The cap limits the multiple, not your spending. Every bet you place to clear wagering is a real bet with the usual house edge, so a lower multiple mostly means fewer chances to lose the bonus before it converts.
What changed in January 2026
Before 19 January 2026 there was no ceiling on wagering. The Gambling Commission now caps it at 10x for casino bonuses from licensed operators. If you see a casino bonus on a UK-licensed site asking for more, raise it with the operator, and if that does not resolve it, with the dispute service named in its terms.

Terms that still decide the value
Conversion caps
Many offers limit what bonus winnings can turn into. "Equal to lifetime deposits, up to £250" means that if you have deposited £10 in total, no more than £10 of bonus winnings can convert, however well the session goes.
Per-spin and per-batch limits
Some free-spin offers cap winnings at £8 per ten spins. That sets a ceiling on the offer before wagering even starts.
Game weighting
Slots usually count in full. Table games and live casino may count for a fraction or not at all, which makes the effective requirement much higher if you play them.
Time limits
Offers run on a clock. Hippodrome Online states seven days from registration; others state their own limits. Unfinished wagering at the deadline usually means the bonus is removed.
The option that has no wagering at all
You can decline any bonus. Playing only with your own deposit means no requirement to meet and nothing forfeited when you withdraw. If you do want an offer, the no-wagering list and the full bonus comparison are the places to start.
Questions UK readers ask
What is the 10x wagering cap?
Since 19 January 2026, Gambling Commission licensed operators cannot require you to wager a casino bonus more than 10 times before winnings from it can be withdrawn.
Does 10x apply to the bonus or the bonus plus deposit?
Check each offer’s terms. On most of the sites we list, the wagering is stated against the bonus cash only, for example “10x on the bonus” or “10x on bonus cash”.
Do all games count towards wagering?
Not always. Operators can weight games differently or exclude some. The terms list which games count and by how much.
What happens if I do not finish the wagering in time?
The bonus and any winnings from it are usually removed when the time limit runs out. Your own deposited money is not affected.
